Black widow is finally getting her solo movie come 2020 and it has been a long time coming. While her movie should have ideally debuted during 2012 to 2014 but it’s better late than never. It’s been speculated that the movie will be set after Captain America: Civil War and before Avengers: Infinity War. Therefore, the potential for exploring Natasha Romanoff’s life is immense and going by the first released trailer, it’s going to be a blast to the past.
The movie is still some months away from release and yet con season is always continuing. So it’s time to prepare the black widow suit shown in the movie so that you can one-up everyone at conventions and movie premiere. Here’s how you can get the black widow to look from her 2020 movie:
Body Suit:
The one thing you need no matter which version of Black Widow you are cosplaying is the black body-hugging suit. But the black bodysuit is a little different in her solo movie. In the trailer, her suit isn’t sleek and shiny, like how it has been in the previous versions. Instead, it feels like it has been made from black fabric and that’s what you need. Get a strong black fabric and make a bodysuit that fits you.
Designs:
If you check out the designs on the suit from the upcoming black widow 2020 movie, you will see that it has a vaguely spider-like design on it. It makes sense given her superhero name but the best part is that the design is very easy to make. Use dark black fabric to cut out the shape and then use fabric glue to stick it on the bodysuit. You can choose to sew it on as well. Remember that the design is a mirror-image so it will be the same on both sides of the suit. The back design is different, so take care of that as well.
White Outline:
Next comes the white black widow outline on the design of the bodysuit. You can use acrylic colour or fabric colour to draw a white outline of the design. This will keep the design from merging with the rest of the suit and becoming invisible.
Black Jacket:
If you notice carefully, you will see that she has a little holster jacket on her suit this time. To make the jacket, first cut out a little turtle-like 6-sides shape from leather. Here you will have to sew four pieces of leather on its top and bottom portion. This piece will be put on your back. Now draw those leather pieces to the front. And attach it to a bridge-like design that will be the front portion of the suit. To make it look like a jacket, attach the bridge design to armholes, which you can cut out from the leather.
Boots:
The thigh boots are easy to procure and you should do that instead of trying to make it. You will need all black thigh-high boots with little heels to complete the look.
Belt:
In her upcoming solo movie, Black Widow has a gold belt, but it has a different design from her previous belts. You can check out to see the design in the front and imitate it by using discarded belt buckles. But the most important part is the black widow symbol on the suit. The symbol is in red on a gold plate and you must get that right, even if you are having trouble with the surrounding pieces.
Thigh Holsters:
Black Widow always had thigh holsters on both her legs and this movie is no different. She has thigh holsters where she keeps her two guns. You can either choose to simply buy cosplay thigh holsters or make them yourself. To make them you will need to attach a piece of sturdy leather to the belt. Then make sure that you extend it and make it parallel to the leg before circling it around the thigh to ensure that it stays in place. Next, add in the holsters and toy guns. It’s a huge hassle to do it by yourself so you should buy this piece if you can.
